Hofwyl Plantation Honey Bee Day in Brunswick, September 14

Date: September 14, 2019

Time: 10:00 am

It’s official! The bees have arrived. Come enjoy the third in a series of educational programs, sponsored by the Friends of Hofwyl, at Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation, Saturday, September 14, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Ms. Deborah Orr, Office Manager, The Glynn County Farm Bureau and member of the Beekeepers’ Committee, will be on site to discuss detailed information and answer questions. There will be a honey bee observation hive with live bees at work along with equipment and tools needed to keep bees. There will also be local honey for tasting.

The Beekeepers’ Committee is comprised of 35 local beekeepers that are passionate about the honey bees vital work they do as pollinators and, of course, for the delicious honey they produce. The goal of the Committee is to educate the public about the importance of honey bees to many of the vegetables, nuts and fruits that we eat. Committee volunteers go to local school classrooms, attend civic meetings, and many local community events to share this story and the commitment it takes to be a beekeeper.
